John Barbisan has worked in the film and television industry since 1997, and currently is the Supervising Producer of Network’s slate of I Am films and more. Recent projects for Network include working as Supervising Producer and writer on the Leo Award-winning docu-series PUNK for EPIX; and acting as Supervising Producer, writer, and Co-Director of the award-winning I Am MLK Jr.
On the scripted side, John co-founded Hoodwink Entertainment and recently executive produced 33 hour-long episodes of Bitten, which ran on Syfy, Netflix, and networks around the world. With Hoodwink, John also co-created, developed and executive produced two seasons of the successful drama series Whistler for CTV, as well as Content and The N.
John graduated from York University with an Honours Degree in Creative Writing in 1989 before beginning his career with No Equal Entertainment, eventually serving as Production Executive through 2010, working in all areas of development, production, and distribution including finance, business affairs, and acquisitions on projects including Doug Coupland’s provocative television series JPod (CBC).
