Steven Kotlowitz is a partner in The Sports Corporation, a top five agency representing NHL Hockey players. Steve's expertise includes representing his clients for both on- and off-ice activities, including endorsements and other licensing and promotional opportunities. Before joining The Sports Corporation in 1997 Steve was Senior Vice President, Administration and Business Affairs for Los Angeles based International Creative Management, Inc., the leading Hollywood talent and literary agency, and a key member of ICM's senior management. His responsibilities at ICM included administrative oversight of each division: motion pictures, television, commercials, corporate advisory services, sports, voice-overs, and new media, as well as supervising all human resources activities. He was instrumental in establishing the company's sports division and in reorganising and administrating the agent-trainee program. Additionally, he was an integral part of hiring and negotiating the employment agreements for the company's executives. Furthermore, he worked closely with the general counsel in overseeing litigation matters.
Kotlowitz has negotiated movie and ancillary-related deals for many top Hollywood stars and sports figures, including Johnny Depp, Jodie Foster, Howie Long, John Malkovich, Shaquille O'Neal, Dennis Rodman, Deion Sanders, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sharon Stone, and Jean-Claude Van Damme. He worked closely with ICM's corporate advisory services division, whose clients include Starbucks and Bank of America. Prior to joining ICM, Kotlowitz worked for four and a half years at Paramount Pictures Corporation where he was senior attorney in the motion picture division. As legal counsel to the merchandising and licensing division, he worked on "Top Gun", "Star Trek", "Cheers", and "Beverly Hills Cop". In addition, he negotiated talent compensation deals for Tom Cruise, Ted Danson, Joel Schumacher and John Travolta, among others.
Before entering the entertainment business, Kotlowitz spent a year working with Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers at the law firm of Gould and Sayre. Kotlowitz graduated with honours from UCLA in 1979, with a major in sociology. He received his JD from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1983, where he founded the Entertainment and Sports Law Society. He has been a guest lecturer at his alma mater and for other entertainment-related organisations. He has served on the board of directors of the Association of Talent Agents and on the advisory committee for the UCLA Law School Entertainment Symposium.
